Privacy Policy

Overview
GloApp ("we," "our," or "the app") is a skincare tracking application designed with privacy as a core principle. Your photos and skin data are stored on your device by default, with optional iCloud sync through Apple's secure infrastructure. We collect anonymous usage analytics to improve the app (see "Analytics" below), but we do not collect, transmit, or store your personal content on our own servers.
Data We Do Not Collect
GloApp does not collect:
- Photos or images of any kind
- Skincare product information you log
- Skin scores or health data
- Personal identifiers (name, email, phone number)
- Advertising data
Data Stored on Your Device
All data you create within GloApp is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This includes:
- Progress photos you capture
- Products, ingredients, and routines you create
- Skin score entries and skin condition tags
- Lifestyle data (sleep, stress, diet, cycle phase)
- Streak and milestone data
- Cached ingredient information from Open Beauty Facts
- Timeline and comparison data
This data is stored locally on your device and protected by your device's security features (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID). If you enable iCloud sync, this data is also stored in your personal iCloud account (see "iCloud Sync" below). We have no access to this data in either case.
iCloud Sync
GloApp offers optional iCloud sync powered by Apple's CloudKit. When enabled, your data — including photos, skin logs, products, routines, and settings — is synced across your Apple devices through your personal iCloud account.
- iCloud sync is entirely optional and can be toggled in Settings
- Synced data is stored on Apple's secure servers under your Apple ID
- Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple
- GloApp does not have access to your iCloud data — only your devices signed in to your Apple ID can read it
- Photos and all other synced content are never transmitted to our servers
For more information about how Apple handles iCloud data, see Apple's iCloud security overview.
Camera & Photo Library Access
GloApp requests access to your device's camera to capture progress photos. Photos are saved to the app's local storage and, if iCloud sync is enabled, to your personal iCloud account. Photos are never transmitted to our servers or any third party.
Barcode Scanner
GloApp uses Apple's VisionKit framework to scan product barcodes. Only the decoded barcode number is sent to Open Beauty Facts to retrieve product and ingredient information. No camera images, personal data, or device identifiers are transmitted during barcode scanning.
Analytics
GloApp uses PostHog for anonymous product analytics to help us understand how the app is used and improve the experience. Analytics data includes:
- Anonymous usage events (e.g., which features are used, screens visited)
- Device type, operating system version, and app version
- An anonymous identifier (not tied to your name, email, or Apple ID)
Analytics data does not include:
- Your photos, skin scores, or skincare data
- Product names, ingredients, or routines you create
- Any personally identifiable information
Your IP address may be used by PostHog to determine approximate geographic region, but it is not stored. No analytics data is sold to or shared with advertisers.
Third-Party Services
GloApp integrates with the following third-party services:
- Open Beauty Facts API — When you scan a barcode or search for a product, GloApp sends the barcode number or search query to the Open Beauty Facts open database to retrieve ingredient and product information. No personal data, photos, or device identifiers are transmitted in these requests.
- PostHog — Anonymous product analytics as described in the "Analytics" section above. See PostHog's Privacy Policy.
GloApp does not integrate with any advertising or user tracking services. We do not sell your data to any third parties.
Health & Environmental Data
GloApp may request access to the following optional data sources to enhance your skincare tracking:
- Apple HealthKit — With your permission, GloApp reads sunlight exposure data from HealthKit to correlate UV exposure with your skin scores. GloApp only reads data — it never writes to HealthKit. All HealthKit data stays on your device.
- Location Services — With your permission, GloApp captures local weather conditions (temperature, humidity, UV index) at the time of logging. Your precise location is not stored — only the weather data. This feature is optional and can be toggled in Settings.
Data Deletion
You can delete all your data at any time by deleting individual entries within the app or by uninstalling GloApp from your device. If iCloud sync is enabled, deleting data in the app also removes it from iCloud. You can also manage your iCloud storage directly through your device's Settings.
Children's Privacy
GloApp is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Medical Disclaimer
GloApp is not a medical device or diagnostic tool. The app is designed for personal skincare tracking only and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Skin scores, trends, correlations, and other insights are for informational purposes only and are not clinically validated. Always consult a qualified dermatologist or healthcare provider before making decisions about your skin health. See our Terms of Service for the full medical disclaimer.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.
